College basketball is starting to heat up now that we’re in the month of March. Conference tournaments are getting started and the typical college basketball viewer is glued to their television, excited for the unpredictable events that March Madness brings. The NBA’s top prospects will be showcased all month, but there is one guy who a lot of people don’t know and will surprised many if his name is called on draft night.
Amir Hinton is that guy.
A 6’5″, 190 pound scoring machine will be the one that may shocked the world during the 2019 NBA Draft. Hinton, just finished up his first season at Shaw University (NC) after transferring from Lock Haven University (PA), but this may have been his first and last season with the Bears. The junior said he will declare for the NBA Draft after Shaw’s lost to Virginia State in the CIAA Championship Game.
Hinton, who is currently ranked by ESPN as the 49th best NBA prospect led Division II in scoring with 29.4 points per game. He had five games where he scored 40 or more points, including a 52 point outing on Dec. 19 against Tampa College. He also averaged 4.9 rebounds and 4 assists on the season.
He has the size and talent to be very effective at the next level and he is an example of why prospects should choose to go to a school where they are wanted.
