The Continuous Struggle
The Celtics were the squad we thought would be the team to beat in the East after LeBron James left for Los Angeles. The team has struggled both offensively and defensively at times throughout the season.
Our expectations were high on a team that looked great on paper with players such as Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, Al Horford, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Morris, Marcus Smart, and Terry Rozier on the roster. The problem everyone thought hindered them from making the NBA Finals last year were injuries as Irving and Hayward were both out during the C’s playoff run in 2018.
However, the circumstances have been different this year as the Celtics have played the majority of the season with their full roster. Players on the Celtics have expressed their feelings on their team struggles, including Irving after the C’s 118 – 95 lost last night to the Raptors.
Irving said, “it’s up to Brad”, referring to head coach Brad Stevens after being asked how could the team fix the shortcuts being taken on the defensive side of the ball.
There is a clip floating around showing Irving and Tatum looking frustrated at what is taking place during their game with the Raptors. It wil interesting to see what they will do going forward as the Celtics will be under a microscope for the rest of way because of their struggle with consistency and recent talks about Irving leaving Boston after this season.
Boston currently sits 5th in the Eastern Conference Standings at 37-24.
